In the year 2000, shortly after reading Simon Singh’s wonderful book The Code Book, I contacted him with a view to developing some interactive cryptography software for use in schools. Simon agreed, and the result is The Code Book on CD-ROM. It was a mammoth project, but the CD-ROM is now used in schools throughout the world and forms a major part of the Enigma Project at Cambridge University.
