An Art and Science Extravaganza

As part of this year’s Cambridge Science Festival, on 19th March 2010 SCIENAR and Kettle’s Yard Gallery will be hosting:

   Conversations Across Science and Art
 

The event will begin at 6.00pm with Prof. John Barrow who will present his Faraday Prize winning talk ‘Every Picture Tells a Story’. John Barrow is the best selling author of such books as The Artful Universe and Cosmic Imagery: Key Images in the History of Science.

We then have an Italian perspective on the relationship between art and science presented by Prof. Mauro Francaviglia and Dr Marcella Lorenzi who will speak about ‘Geometry and Art from Antiquity to Futurism’.

The final speaker is Prof. Gerry Gilmore, one of the world’s leading astronomers and Professor of Experimental Philosophy, who will explore the relationship between art and astronomy.

The talks will take place from 6.00pm onwards in the Wolfson Lecture Theatre in the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Wilberforce Road, Cambridge. The event is FREE to the public and seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The lecture theatre will be open from
5.15pm. Arrive early to ensure a good seat.
